ABOUT ME

I have been a freelance graphic designer for nearly 15 years. I've always had a love for art and design, and I knew I would be an entrepreneur someday. So, I attended college at Hampton University and studied Business.

After graduating, in 2005, I worked for the government in Washington, DC. While there, I convinced an IT specialist to download Adobe Creative Suite onto my work computer; It is an expensive design software that did not want to pay for, at the time. From video editing to layouts and special effects, I fell in love with the program and all its capabilities.

The Abode programs took my design creations from good to great! Eventually, I transitioned from that job and became a stay-at-home mom. This gave me time to sharpen my skills and implement my love of design on a consistent basis. I continued working with friends, family, and my local church to design posters, flyers, brochures, funeral programs, LOGOs and websites.

I enjoyed creating custom designs and the joy it brought to my clients.  This talent came naturally and because I wasn't professionally trained in the design field, I felt unsettled about billing close family and friends. My husband and family urged me to charge for my time and quality of services. Eventually, my husband, frustrated with my handouts, coined the phrase, “Pro bono, No mo”. It took me a while to launch my official business, but I’m grateful for the lesson of knowing my value and the value my skills bring to others.  Eventually, Designs by Kenya was created.

I take pride in providing great customer service and an exceptional quality of products. I am also on a continual pursuit of studying modern design and the latest trends in business branding.

Let's Work Together.
